I wrote this song from the perspective of Spike as he is falling from a great height in "Secret of my Excess". It's hard to imagine what must have been going through his mind - the feeling of helplessness, recollecting on the mistakes that led to that moment, retracing steps in his head to find where he went wrong and what made him lose control, thinking of what he could possibly say to Rarity to make it all okay... I'm probably reading WAY too far into it, but it's been one of those things that I've thought about a bit since I first saw that episode all those years ago, and so I figured it was about time I explored that idea :)
